In dieser Veranstaltung berichtet Monalisa Akintole – feministische Transfrau, Menschenrechtspraktikerin und Koordinatorin des Uganda National Trans Forum (UNTF) – aus den Kämpfen, Strategien und widerständigen Praxen trans Communities in Uganda. Das UNTF ist ein transgeleitetes Netzwerk, das Stimmen bündelt, Bewegungen stärkt und für Inklusion, Rechte und soziale Gerechtigkeit eintritt – auch unter Bedingungen massiver Einschränkungen.

Im Mittelpunkt stehen Fragen, die auch in anderen Kontexten zentral sind:

Wie lassen sich Räume für Resilienz und Solidarität unter widrigen Bedingungen gestalten?
Welche Strategien entwickeln Communities, um ihre Rechte zu verteidigen und auszubauen?
Wie können wir transnational in Verbindung treten, um rechte Ideologien zu benennen, zu bekämpfen und solidarische Allianzen zu stärken?

Referentin:

Monalisa Akintole ist feministische Transfrau, Menschenrechtspraktikerin und Aktivistin für trans- und gender-diverse Rechte. Sie ist Forum Koordinatorin des Uganda National Trans Forum und leitet dort die Advocacy- und Koordinationsarbeit für Gleichstellung und Inklusion.

In Uganda, trans and gender-diverse people face multiple forms of structural violence — through state repression, social stigmatization, and the growing influence of global right-wing movements. Yet, communities continue to organize, creating spaces of visibility, solidarity, and resistance — building structures that enable self-determination and dignity.

In this event, Monalisa Akintole – a feminist trans woman, human rights practitioner, and coordinator of the Uganda National Trans Forum (UNTF) –bwill share insights from the struggles, strategies, and resilient practices of trans communities in Uganda.
The UNTF is a trans-led network that amplifies voices, strengthens movements, and advocates for inclusion, rights, and social justice — even under conditions of severe restriction.

At the center of the discussion are questions that resonate far beyond the Ugandan context:

How can spaces for resilience and solidarity be built under hostile conditions?
What strategies are communities developing to defend and expand their rights?
How can we connect transnationally to name and challenge right-wing ideologies and strengthen solidarity across borders?

Monalisa Akintole is a feminist trans woman, human rights practitioner, and activist for trans and gender-diverse rights. She is the Forum Coordinator of the Uganda National Trans Forum (UNTF), leading advocacy and coordination efforts for equality and inclusion.
